Detailing Tires - How To
How to Detail the Tires, Rims & Wheel Wells
Properly cleaning the tires, rims, and wheel wells of a car is essential for both aesthetics and maintenance. Start by rinsing the wheels with water to remove loose dirt and debris. Next, use a tire and wheel cleaner, applying it to the tire and rim, allowing it to sit for a few minutes to break down brake dust and grime. Use a soft brush to scrub the tires, working the cleaner into the tread, sidewalls, and the rims to remove any stubborn dirt.
For the wheel wells, spray the area with a wheel cleaner or degreaser, and use a brush to scrub away mud, grime, and road salts that can build up. Clean the rims thoroughly with a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching the delicate surface. It’s crucial to dry the rims and tires afterward, as water spots can form on the rims and tire cleaner can attract dirt if left damp.
Maintaining clean tires and rims not only keeps your car looking great but also helps protect the wheels from corrosion caused by dirt and brake dust. Clean wheel wells are also important, as they prevent buildup that can affect your vehicle's performance and longevity.
