Selling Your Car? Here's What To Do.

When it’s time to sell your car, a little effort can go a long way in getting top dollar. Most buyers judge a vehicle not just by how it runs, but by how well it looks and feels. One of the first areas you should focus on is the engine bay. A clean engine compartment suggests the car has been maintained properly. Use a degreaser, a soft brush, and some elbow grease to carefully remove built-up grime. Be sure to cover key electrical parts before spraying anything.

After that, move on to headlight restoration. Cloudy or yellow headlights make a car look older and neglected. You can find restoration kits that are easy to use and make a dramatic difference in appearance. With clear headlights, your car instantly looks more modern and well-kept.

Next up is a full wash and wax. This isn't just about surface-level shine—waxing helps protect the paint and makes the car feel newer. Clean wheels and tires also enhance curb appeal, so don’t skip those. Then, head inside for a deep clean.

Shampoo the seats and carpets to remove odors and stains that build up over time. If your car smells clean and looks spotless inside, buyers will feel more confident in its overall condition. Don’t forget to wipe down all interior surfaces, including the dash and console.

One commonly missed detail is the door jams. Clean these areas thoroughly—they’re small but make a big impact when a buyer opens the door. It shows attention to detail and pride of ownership.

Finally, once everything is spotless, take lots of high-quality photos. Good lighting and a variety of angles can make your listing stand out. Showcase the interior, exterior, engine bay, and even small details like the odometer. Great photos help attract serious buyers and give you an edge in the market.
